  5. Tony Blair was born on the 6th May 1953 in Edinburgh.
  6. After attending Durham Choristers School, he read law at St John's College Oxford. He was called to the Bar at Lincoln's Inn in 1976 and practised as a barrister, specialising in employment and industrial law. In 1983, he was elected MP for Sedgfield. After holding several Shadow Cabinet positions,  including Shadow Home Secretary, he was elected leader of the Labour Party in July 1994.
